What hurts me the most about this chapter is that everything Ai does is because she wants to save Kamiki from hitting rock bottom and not burden him with their relationship. Good intentions and out of plain, simple love that is translated through lies. And after doing everything she could to love in her own way, she still died because of not being understood. The tragedy of Ai Hoshino will forever haunt me.

With the umbrella scene I’m starting to notice that Hikaru only has ever really given attention to Ruby and barely if any to Aqua. Maybe I’m reading way too much into it idk, but I’m just wondering why Ruby?? Like is he actually making sure she doesn’t surpass Ai, or is it something else? I have one idea, which is that he’s using Ruby to get to Aqua, which seems so convoluted, so idk if I’m confident in it lol 😅😭

I think the difference in how Nino and Hikaru react to Ai confessing the truth (via the blog post and dvd) is deeply interesting.

While Nino doubles down on her deification of Ai and erase every trace of Ai's heart-felt confession. Hikaru accepts them and even states that Ai was a normal girl. (chp160 throws a wrench into things and now that I think about, we don't know how Hikaru feels about the dvd at all, but we are going to pretend like onk ended at 157 for the sake of my sanity.)

They are both clearly obsess with Ai, yet the difference is that Nino does not accept Ai's vulnerability while Hikaru does accept them, revels in them even.

I think a ninoai relationship would crash and burn way way faster, it would be a consistently miserable affair for everyone involved. (Which is why they should fuck) While hikaai would be more varied, the highs are higher and the lows are lower.

Original HikaAi Live Action Scenes?!

So the trailer for 『【推しの子】-The Final Act-』 (which is the live action adaptation of the movie arc which got chopped off into its own film, releasing 20th Dec, separate from the LA tv series releasing 28th Nov) dropped a week ago but I finally got around to looking at it properly and GUYS. I THINK WE'RE GETTING LA ORIGINAL HIKAAI SCENES

I'm trying not to get my hopes up for a live action adaptation... but if they give me some good HikaAi scenes I don't care if the rest of the show is bad lmao.

the thing abt hkai that i think gets kinda overlooked in discussion sometimes is that, in hikaru's own words, it was an incredibly fast, high octane codependent relationship yes, but what he does not mention is that it was highly codependent– on both sides. because both hikaru and ai were so desperate for acceptance and love, they revolved around each other singularly and to the point that hikaru meets LETS BREAK UP with LETS GET MARRIED with barely a moment's hesitance. they dated for less than a year

but the thing about hikaru's statement–

–is that it's not entirely objective. hikaru's view of the hkai relationship is largely informed by his immense self loathing– he places himself in the role of hopelessly pining after someone who never loved him because he does not believe he can be loved and therefore the end of the relationship Had to be his entire fault rather than the true reason, that they were teenagers in horrible circumstances clinging to each other and that ai made the best choices she could even if her delivery was terrible (affectionate) because if she didn't, then it would have destroyed them both

eventually, sooner or later, hikaru and ai would have consumed any sort of identity either of them managed to build outside of their relationship, ending both "Kamiki Hikaru" and "Hoshino Ai". they'd be trapped in a world where only the two of them existed, constantly trying to please the other. it would have ended in destruction either way you look at it.

Oshi no Ko Chapter 141 : Hikaru And Ai

I know the latest chapter of oshi no ko was very controversial and everyone is making their own speculation about what might happen but can we take a moment, just a tiny moment to appreciate this panel :

Hikaru has been lying his whole life, always fooling people and never showing his true colors. However, for the first time in his life, someone was able to see through his lies, someone who could tell that Hikaru wasn't fine as he always says.

And he opened up to her, we saw in the last chapter that both of them were enjoying each other company and having fun together but Hikaru seems to trust her a lot to the point of telling her about the abuse

And Ai, Ai went to confront Airi the moment she heard all of his story, which was huge change in her character, she usually seems detached from the world and not getting involved and always saying -not what she want to say but - what people want to hear, but here, she stood up for Hikaru's sake and made Airi know what she truly is (nothing but an abuser).
